HiphopLE releases 'youngest member' interview with Crush, Andup, & Olltii

Had the awesome chance of working with HiphopLE and sanashimi (my favorite person ever) on subbing their recently released interview with Crush, Andup, and Olltii for their 'youngest member' special.

The interview was actually released earlier this year on their Kakao Page application but I had no idea how to navigate through it...and it just so happened that they released it on Youtube recently so having wanted to translate it before, I was able to sub it thanks to sanashimi for helping out and HiphopLE giving us permission to do so.

I know I work at an extreme slow pace but I'm hoping to crunch in a few more subbing projects before I leave for Korea/school starting again so bear with me! I'm changing the direction of my blog a little so I'm going to try to translate more interviews instead (both text and videos) since most people on Tumblr seem to already be translating lyrics and news. Anyway, thanks again for supporting this crummy little blog lol.

Andup releases MV for "As It is Right Now" (+lyric translations)

Andup releases MV for "As It is Right Now" featuring Brother Su from his EP "20."

Just by the preview shot for the music video, you can already tell that it's hinting at the familiar faces in the underground scene (if you don't know who the guy in the Bulls fitted is, that's Louie from Geeks).

The music video was directed by Jayfactory, who's kind of been getting their name out there for filming MVs with other artists in the hip hop scene and the MV was fairly cute. The effects of the scribbles was suitable with the theme of Andup's EP "20" talking about society and life in the shoes of a recently-aged 20 year old. But it was also a nice transition to go from his home to hanging out with his friends at the Grandline Party.

I really loved this track when his EP came out and I feel like the featuring done by Brother Su wasn't overdone, being present in the track to add a nice harmony and he did well in serving as a break in between the verses.

Anyway, I decided to translate the lyrics so check it out below (and name the faces you recognize in the MV)!

Andup confirms mid-October comeback

Since I follow him on Twitter, I have been following on his whereabouts of the release of his upcoming EP '20' and it was estimated to be around either the first week or the second week of October, and well he's sticking through it. Although Hiphopplaya hasn't covered the actual date, he said that he's aiming to have it released on the 11th, targeting the mid-October deadline that was announced.

But what Hiphopplaya unveiled today was more news than Andup has been hinting, showing the artists and producers who are involved with featurings and mixing/mastering of the EP. Artists like The Quiett, Crucial Star, Brother Su, Hwaji, Lovey, Jayrockin', Kimparkchella, Vida Loca, J.Shin, and Giriboy helped contribute to the album while Soriheda and Vasco are in charge of wrapping up the finishing productions with mixing and mastering the EP.

In 2010, Andup made his break into the music scene with his EP 'Speaker of Teens,' which showcased his stories and outlooks on life and society in the shoes of a teenager but having turned twenty recently this year, he transitions his mindset and outlook on the world as an adult.

I'm excited because it's a cool theme to prove how much one's matured not just age wise but musically as well through different experiences faced in life. I'm also keeping my eyes out for the possible track with Kimparkchella considering his past two tracks with the singer/producer has been nothing but amazing.

October is a busy month and as of right now, Andup is the youngest and first artist early in the lineup for a comeback.

Andup estimates album release for beginning or mid-October

Youngest member of both crews Buckwilds & Do'Main, solo artist Andup has been dropping tweets about the process of his new upcoming album lately and revealed that it could be released sometime in October.

Two hours ago, he tweeted, "Wow, now I only have one song left to work on from the album. I'm so moved. Wahhhhhhhh!!!" which caught the attention of many fans resulting in one of them to ask, "Will it be released as a CD?" The funny part is, he answered pretty much everything about the album when he RTed the fan's tweet except her question lol. He responded, "After working on the finishing productions, making the album cover, and filming the MV, it'll come out for sure by the beginning or middle of October!! Hurray!!"

Andup momentarily stepped away from the music scene in terms of new releases, occasionally dropping free tracks via his Youtube channel, primarily focused on his university life. The artist up till today released two albums on his own - 'Speaker of Teen' and 'I Keep Going' - and even featured for actor So Jisub's flopping EP 'The Throne of the North.' He's also well known for releasing the diss track against CSP from crew Soul Connection, now popularly known to be the CSP of Crispy Crunch.

Backtracking to the sentence about his two prior albums, they weren't the greatest albums I've listened to but there are some golden tracks like 'That Place (그 곳)' and 'Place (자리),' both featuring my favorite producer & vocalist Ponytail, whom now goes by his real name Kimparkchella. If you check out the tracklist for both albums, you can see the wide variety of artists he has to feature for him, such as Minos of Eluphant and DJ Tiz. But instead of focusing on which famous artist is featuring for him, I like to recognize that Andup being a solo artist and fending for himself without a company (which is just as difficult, if not even more in the Korean hip hop industry), hasn't made it not necessarily to the top but enough where he's able to hang around the big names and to have them feature for him. In my opinion, being one of the youngest rappers (born in 1993) and achieving this much, far more than what his crew members and other rappers in the scene have, I think he's pretty damn recognizable and as much as he's stepped away from music, I'm anticipating what he can bring to the floor again (and up against artists settling to release music in October, Jerry.k being one of those artists).
